Who we are

The Moffat Centre is a highly regarded university-based centre undertaking key consultancy and contract research projects in the travel, tourism, hospitality and events sectors.

Our staff provide expertise on tourism development projects throughout the UK and internationally.

As part of a University community, the Centre’s leading role in the tourism and hospitality sector has led to recognition in academic, industry and media circles.

The Moffat Centre has developed a firm understanding of the tourism sector in the UK and internationally and Professor John  Lennon, the founding Director, is regularly invited to provide  expertise to the UK Government, the Scottish Government, VisitScotland and a number of other organisations involved in tourism such as Historic Scotland and United Nations World Tourism Organisation.

Increasingly, the Moffat Centre delivers interventions and expertise in international destinations such as St Lucia, Norway, Lithuania, Malawi, South Africa, Canada and Ireland and we are acknowledged as leaders in tourism development, international learning journeys and benchmarking analysis of sectors and destinations.

The Moffat Centre has a strong portfolio of project experience ranging from strategic area development and planning to business training and growth and development overseas.

In order for our projects to deliver valuable recommendations we systematically integrate benchmarking/best practice exercises to illustrate clearly and unequivocally new trends and practices which are or will shortly become the standard.

With more than 15 years’ experience serving the international tourism industry, government and the public and private sectors, our clients range from airlines and destination marketing organisations to leisure operators and event organisers.

We have developed a network of national and international contacts who we can work with to build knowledge to produce strong project outputs.
