Impact assessment of Burns an’ a’ That! Festivals

The Moffat Centre has been commissioned over 4 years to provide evaluations of the economic impact of the Burns An’ A’ That! Festivals that have spanned this time frame annually.

Key areas of appraisal have included:

  • Visitor Expenditure levels, type and amounts
  • Visitor Origins
  • Visitor Profile
  • Levels of total event attendance
  • Economic Impact evaluation via Street survey, stake holder interview and industry survey

    • Value of Public and Private investment
    • Analysis of Sponsorship
    • Review of Marketing and sales
    • Qualitative impact (e.g. growth in civic pride, human capital etc)

The findings have been used by the Scottish Executive and Parliament as a primary indicator of the value of Burns and have led the Moffat Centre to be appointed to provide the Masterplan and economic impact survey for the proposed Burns 2009 Centenary.
