Whitelee Windfarm Visitor Centre
Scottish Power is currently seeking Planning approval for a 140 turbine wind farm at Whitelee Farm. As a condition of planning, a Visitor Centre is to be located at the site. The aim of opening the Centre is to educate visitors in renewable energy technologies, local history and to provide access to the site for recreation. The Moffat Centre reported on the feasibility of the Whitelee Visitor Centre as a profit-making visitor attraction. The objectives were:
- To estimate likely visitor numbers to the Visitor Centre
- To provide recommendations on best practice regarding operations at the Visitor Centre
- To provide revenue and cost projections based on estimated visitor numbers and recommended pricing policies
- To provide a realistic and candid evaluation of the Visitor Centre operating as a profitable visitor attraction
